House District 94 update for the week of 9/24
Black Excellence Brunch at The White House
I received an Invitation and was honored to attendĀ the White House for The Black Excellence Brunch! The event featured performances by the military band, the St. Augustine gospel choir, a DJ and a short concert from Grammy-award winning singer Monica. This was the first time the White House hosted a Black Excellence Brunch, so I was excited to participate.
During the event, we discussed significant investments being made in Black communities across the nation. I was extremely excited to hear about the investments weāve made made in education, like the $16 billion investment inĀ historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUās). It was an amazing event!Ā

Meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)
Each year the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) hosts a quarterly meeting during the CongressionalĀ BlackĀ Caucusā Annual LegislativeĀ Conference in Washington, D.C. Ā While I was there, we met withĀ the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). Some of the events I attended were Congressman Andre CarsonāsĀ Hip Hop & Politics session, and the Southern Company reception.

One of the CBC membersĀ I was excited to meet was Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett from Texas! Sheās been a force of positive change at the Capitol since her election in 2023, and it was amazing to speak with her about young people having opportunities and taking on leadership roles. Iām excited to use what I learned and implement itĀ during the 2025 legislative session for the benefit of my community!
